Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish


Instructions

  1. Boil noodles until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil. Add beef and cook until browned.
  3. Stir in tomato paste and crushed tomatoes. Simmer for 20–25 minutes. Season with salt, pepper and Italian seasoning.
  4. Mix ricotta, egg, Parmesan, salt and pepper in a bowl.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F. In a baking dish, layer sauce, noodles, ricotta, mozzarella. Repeat layers ending with sauce and cheese.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Uncover and bake 15 minutes more.
  7. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil.
