- 1 lb Italian sausage
- 8 cups day-old bread cubes
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 celery stalks, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh sage, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 egg
- 2 cups chicken broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Toast bread if not already dry.
- Brown sausage in skillet, then transfer to a plate.
- Add butter, sauté onions and celery until soft. Stir in garlic and sage.
- In a large bowl, mix bread, sausage, veggies, and parsley. Season with salt and pepper.
- Whisk egg with broth and pour over the mixture. Toss to coat.
- Transfer to greased baking dish. Cover with foil and bake 30 minutes.
- Uncover and bake another 15–20 minutes until golden on top.
- Garnish with more parsley and serve warm.
